Chaweng

!
Chaweng is a coastal region on Ko Samui, an island in the Golf of Thailand, about 20 miles off the mainland. The design of Chaweng is based on some 'Latinese' characters Peter Rosenfeld detected while celebrating Chinese New Years Eve with people from Thailand and China on the beach of Chaweng. Ralph M. Unger took on the idea and developed a completely new typeface, very beautiful, very 'Latinese'. Chaweng obviously shows some of the typical characteristics of Chinese ideograms, still keeping a high level of legibility. To add something really special, Unger digitized the Chinese signs of the zodiac which change annually, on the occasion of the Chinese New Years Eve.

Chaweng is perfect for signs and small texts, e.g. for any Asian restaurant and shops, menues, displays, China towns etc.

Civilite

!
Civilité in its modern version was designed by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF in 1922. Civilité is said to be the first cursive typeface cut in type. The original was designed by Robert Granjon in 1557, and Granjon wanted to create a typeface imitating the semi formal, modern handwriting of its time. His design became popular for the printing of poetry and for school books, serving as perfect model of handwriting. The first of these books was titled ‘La Civilité puérile’, printed in Antwerp in 1559. These books became so popular that the typeface used became known as ‘Civility type’.

Compliment

!
Compliment is a script design which is obviously based on H. Matheis' typeface designed for Ludwig & Mayer in 1965.
Ralph M. Unger redrew and digitized this font in 2004. His work is based on artwork taken from old East German font catalogues.

Concerto

!

profonts Concerto and profonts Sonata are closely related to each other. In fact, the only difference between the two related fonts is in the upper case characters. Concerto’s upper cases are more complex, swashier than those in Sonata. One is a perfect complement to the other, and that is why they are offered together at special rate. Both fonts contain about 370 glyphs covering the complete Latin set for Western and Eastern Europe.

Cranach & Cranach Shadow

!
This picturesque, beautiful German Blackletter typeface was originally released by Benjamin Becker Succ, Frankfurt am Main, then named ‘Künstlergotisch’. Ralph M. Unger redesigned, digitally remastered and completed the font based on old catalogues/specimen. In honor of the famous Cranach family, German artists in medieval times, we renamed the font after them. The shadowed version was added for even more eyecatching purposes, e.g. in headlines.

Dominante

!

Dominante was originally designed by Johannes Schweitzer in 1959 for Ludwig & Mayer. Ralph M. Unger digitally remastered this beautiful slab serif typeface for the profonts library. Unger’s revival design is based on artwork from old font catalogues. Before starting the digitizing process, he had to redraw the available analog artwork.
Dominante comes in three weights: regular, italic, and bold plus corresponding Expert Sets with Small Caps. The character complement covers West and East, and a OTF Pro version including all glyphs per weight in one font is available, too.

Dominante™ is a Trademark by Bauer Types SA
